7% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner

7% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner (formerly 7% Glycolic Acid Toning Solution) is an exfoliating toner that dramatically smooths skin texture and promotes the appearance of a more even skin tone, as well as a brighter complexion, with regular use. It also minimizes the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The water-based toner format is suitable for daily use.

It contains a 7% concentration of glycolic acid - a well-studied alpha-hydroxy acid - and a plant-derived peppery Tasmanian derivative, whose color varies seasonally, which may cause an apparent difference in color in the formula from time to time.

The pH of this formula is about 3.6. Glycolic acid has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider when synthesizing with acids. The pKa describes the acidity of the molecule. When the pKa is close to pH, there is a perfect balance between salt and acidity, which maximizes the effectiveness of the acid and minimizes irritation.
